"Be the change you wish to see in the world “

-Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi

Greta Thunberg is known for her environmental activities who has gained international recognition for promoting the view that humanity is facing an existential crisis arising from climate change. She is known for her straight forward speaking manner both in public and to political leaders and assemblies, in which she criticizes world leaders for their failure to take sufficient action to address the climate crisis. Green warriors like her have not yet received the recognition, they deserve. Her father is a famous Swedish actor. This means that if she wanted to, she could have followed his footsteps. However, I believe that she has taken the courageous path which is no doubt has made youngsters accept her as their role model .As a seventeen-year-old, Thunberg has taken a huge leap in order to raise awareness for this world crisis. That being said, why can’t the highly educated humans of this world step up to do what Thunberg is trying to do for arguably one of the most important issues to date? How come a child is putting her future at jeopardy for our earth? When Thunberg began this expedition, she was alone. Over time, she has accumulated millions of fans spread across multiple continents that support her and her mission. We, as humans, are destroying the earth day by day, year by year, decade by decade which will eventually lead to its elimination or do we have a plan B to survive unaffectedly by the devastating effects of climate change already on its way?

In 2019 students in more than 100 countries walked out of the school to protest climate change.

According to a road map developed by scientists, more than 70 percent of countries in the world, including the UK and India, could entirely run on solar energy, wind energy and hydropower by 2050. However, if there is a lack of water available at that time, which is another issue arising simultaneously, it creates fewer alternate option.

“kill Pollution or It Will Kill Us ” -Greta Thunberg

Privileged people are inattentive with their money which in turn means that they are not afraid to waste products. A study has found that production of plastics is spiraling beyond control. It also stated that since the 1950’s more than 9 billion tons of plastic has been made. That is enough to cover Argentina. Scientists are working on making bio plastic in an attempt to rectify the situation. Bio plastics are plastics which can be decomposed in soil as they are made from straw, wood chips and sawdust . “The climate crisis has already been solved. We already have all the facts and solutions. All we have to do is to wake up and change” said Nobel Prize nominee Greta Thunberg in her 2018 TED talk. Close to half a million youth around the world have taken action on climate change. Isn’t that giving us the hope to look up to a change?

A Wise man once said “the biggest threat to the earth is the belief that someone else will save it”. Greta Thunberg was called in the UN conference. She refused to go in a flight because every flight leaves a very high carbon emission. Avoiding just one flight can be equivalent to going Car free for a year. A typical click of our search through the online giant website supposedly generates about 7 gm of carbon dioxide. Such a search engine is responsible for contributing 40% carbon emission in our atmosphere which causes 1102.31 pounds carbon emission in one second. Now isn’t that thought provoking? Let us consume less, waste less and enjoy more.

Let us keep our hope alive and work towards saving our planet from dying, then we won’t even need a plan B. “All hands in the deck’’ Live by this motto as we are no longer passengers on this spaceship called earth but as a crew we have a great power to save it which no one has in this whole universe .Human mind is hard wired to solve any sort of problem but the need of the hour is to bring in unity among us. Each of us has something valuable to offer and in rising to the challenge we will discover something precious about ourselves that will enhance us as humans.

“who we are is defined by what we leave behind”
