“Sometimes when you are in a dark place you think you’ve been buried but you’ve actually been planted.”
-Christine Caine
What does happiness mean to you? When you are able to get break-fast in your bed? Or when you have summer holidays? I would say, it would be when our life energies are taking place in an exuberant way and we are able to understand the religion of joy, the economics of joy or the science of joy. Everyone in this world must have had experienced happiness, but only some would have been successful at maintaining it even at the time of adversity.
Having control on what happens inside us, is the key to master our emotional state, be it compassion, love, empathy, happiness, anger. Probably it is far more easier to look for the solutions in the outside world and remain guilt free about not having control on the same.
We understand that sadness is an emotion which leaves a deep scar on our soul if not handled well. It becomes even more difficult in these unprecedented times when we are bound to the four walls of our room, totally cut off from in person experience. But remember, the more time you spend thinking about your sadness, the closer you will get to a sinking feeling. We don’t really want something like this to happen. So, let’s try to understand how can we make our selves stand out in such situations.
Widening our learning zones, exploring the unknown and prioritizing goals by indulging in a thought-provoking environment will open new doors for us. We must work unitedly for the betterment of each other and try to overcome certain stereotypes, for example who says crying is perceived as a weakness? Rather, crying has a relaxing effect on our emotions. It releases endorphins, in simple words this is a natural feel-good chemical in our body. Try to smile whenever you can, it may be difficult when you are sad but it is scientifically proven that smiles which engage your eye and near mouth muscles have the strongest positive effect on the mood. Certain people constantly ponder about the negative sides of their lives and tend to forget the positive ones which often leads to melancholy. To stay away from such a situation let’s practice mindfulness, a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and sensation. Mindfulness can help us enjoy the present and engage with our senses. Along with this let’s indulge in hobbies, write journals filled with gratitude, challenge ourselves and by this, I mean try a gluten free diet for a month or try reading 10 books a week, to be engaged and innovative.
In the end, let’s sum it up by saying, face the world and don’t give up. Adopt a positive outlook, uplift & energize people with whom you are surrounded. Live in the moment and try embracing change comfortably. Since most of us are not born with a silver spoon and opportunities are not served to us on a golden platter, let’s get charged up with all our might and face the unknown to make it known to us.
